Srinagar 19 Sept (KNO) : Ridiculing Governor Mr. S. P Malik for his claim that he had consulted all the political parties before announcing elections, AIP Spokesman Advocate Majid Banday has said that Governor’s claim is disappointing and unfortunately a lie also.

In a statement issued to (KNO) today party Spokesman said “It is unfortunate that Governor Mr. Malik is talking everywhere about having taken all mainstream political parties on board before announcing schedule of elections, however Mr. Governor needs to be corrected for the reason that AIP President and MLA Langate Er. Rasheed sought his appointment on more than one occasions to inform him about the atmosphere not being conducive for the said Polls but every time Governor’s office promised for the appointment but it was never fixed. It is obvious that hon’ble Governor never wanted to listen the views of Er. Rasheed vis-à-vis these polls. Governor Mr. Malik should apologize for his claims on National media that he had consulted all mainstream parties even those having a single MLA representing them”.

Spokesman further added that since BJP state president had already claimed that Governor is their own man and Governor Sahab also claimed publically that he is central Government’s representative, as such it is not difficult to imagine the agenda he is carrying.

Spokesman added “The decision taken by the Governor to go ahead with Municipal and Panchayat polls seems not of his own but his masters in New Delhi have obviously asked him to go ahead despite the fact that all major mainstream parties announced their non-participation in these elections. How can Hon’ble Governor deny the fact that major main stream parties asked him time and again to convene an all party meeting to discuss conducting of these polls but he preferred to turn deaf ear towards their advice”.

Mr. Banday asked central government to reconsider the decision of conducting Panchayat and Municipal polls and should not run the state through remote control. He asked New Delhi that rather getting indulged in a futile exercise it must address the immediate concerns of main stream parties and every citizen of the state vis-à-vis article 35-A and any attempt to disrespect the voice of people of state will prove counterproductive at the end.
